2011 Project: Sponsorship of Kathleen Zdenek to attend the Every Kid’s Yoga Teacher Training

About Kathleen
Kathleen has been in the education field for over ten years and has a passion for working with children with diverse needs. She began her studies at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL where she received her B.A. in Elementary and Deaf Education. Presently, she is wrapping up her graduate studies at Penn State where her focus has been Curriculum and Instruction in Early Care and Education.

Before moving to the State College area, Kathleen taught preschool at the Florida School for the Deaf. This was a stepping stone to working in North Carolina, where she was able to partner more closely with families of infants and toddlers to enhance early learning experiences. Kathleen’s passion for working with children continued to flourish when she moved to the State College area and took a job at Easter Seals Child Development Center. Kathleen says, “I am privileged to work with young children, with and without special needs. The experience of growing alongside children in an inclusive environment is one of the most amazing opportunities I’ve had thus far in my career.”

While living in the south had always lent itself to outdoor activities such as swimming and hiking, Kathleen was interested in trying yoga. In 2003, after moving to the area, Kathleen decided to head down the yoga path and she’s never been happier that she did. Over the past seven years she has practiced continuously both at home and within the community. She even found herself bringing yoga to her students. Her enthusiasm for yoga and its impact on her life has led Kathleen to embark on a new adventure that would allow her to bring yoga to even more children in the community in which she lives, works, and plays! She is excited and very grateful for the opportunity to attend the Every Kid’s Yoga Teacher Training in 2011!
